The pterodactyl -> pterodactylus alias has obliterated the species tag's viability, especially with the surge in Fang from GVH.
Remove pterodactylus from all posts that do not depict the actual species.
If the character is described as a generic "pterodactyl", do not add a specific species tag.
If the character IS described as a "pterodactylus" by the artist in the original off-site source, keep the pterodactylus tag even if it doesn't completely look like one. Most of the time these posts will be "pterodactyls", but in some cases will be said to be a "pterodactylus".
Try to add specific species tags [ie, pteranodon, quetzalcoatlus, etc] if applicable.
A pterodactylus has a straight, toothed beak with either no crest or a soft tissue crest and a short tail.
A generic "pterodactyl" typically is either a pteranodon or a nonspecific species with a hard crest, a long tail, and/or a straight/curved beak with teeth.
